On his ninth try, Rich "Goose" Gossage got into the Hall of Fame with 86 percent of the votes, up from 71.2% from last year. For just over 10-years Gossage was one of the premiere relief pitchers with the Yankees, Rangers, and Padres.

Stealing the BCS Championship party was Roger Clemens press conference where the roughly one-minute phone conversation with Brian McNamee was played over 50 times on the ESPN network. When all was said and done, it was a whole lotta nothin' that didn't change the minds of most people. More importantly was the fact that Clemens filed a defamation lawsuit against McNamee which now opens the door for deposition and/or counter suit, as mcNamee lawyer stated in the New York Times that "it's war".
