Joe has the Dodgers in first, Mets salvage series, Tampa cramping up near the tape

We were SO CLOSE to becoming profits by sticking with the Rays through thick and thin but they appear to be fading down the stretch and that lead that looked so insurmountable a little over a month ago is down to .5 as of the time of this posting and will probably be -.5 at the end of the night. They continue to play great at home but with only six or their remaining games in Tampa, things don’t look good for them holding on. Meanwhile the “Mannyless” Sox appear to be hitting their stride and honestly no one wants to travel to Anaheim in the first round as the Wild Card. In the Central, the Sox of White are doing just enough to hold of the Twins but by the end of the week we could possibly have to update again as the South Siders’ have a nasty 10-game roadie upcoming. On the other side the Joe and his boys in blue have taken over the NL Division lead after sweeping the D-Backs in a three game series in LA. Zona’s two aces continue to let the side down as once the Cy Young favorite, Brandon Webb has not been able to notch a W, the D-Backs have lost 7 of their last 10, and are lucky to only be a game and half out. Only in the WAC Conference could 3 over .500 be good enough for a comfortable lead in early September. After letting a chance to sweep the Mets and pull within a half-game slip away, Philly host the fading fish and the Metropolitans get to beat up on the Nats so don’t look for much ground to be made up over the next three days but this race will come down to how Philly takes care of the non-BCS teams on the road the last 2 weeks of the season. Let us know who you like to take each division crown.

The White Sox have to be one of the streakiest hitting teams in all of baseball. They need a huge bat now that Quentin is gone for who knows how long. Outside of Dye, Quentin, and Alexei the offense is filled with streaky, low average, all or nothing hitters. Konerko is prone to slumps even in good years but this year has been one big slump. Thome has been on the decline for a while, Swisher is horrible, Uribe should be a starter only on the worst teams in baseball, Crede (when he's in the lineup) hits about .250, either washed up Griffey or B. Anderson in CF neither of which could hit .250, and O. Cabrera despite having little power is only hitting .276. Wow no wonder we get 2-hit like this. We need offensive upgrades all over the place

Its so funny reading some of the comments from Yankee fans, who know nothing about baseball but Yankees and Red Sox, talk about what a horrible pitcher Moseley is and how he should be pitching in single A. Hmm lets see that Yankees managed all of what was it two hits against him? What does that say about the Yankees horrible heartless ball club. The Angels basically threw a minor league line up out there day.

I'm not talking talking 'smack' first of all. i'm merely stating the possibility that the astros are still in it. that's all i've done. we are a 1/2 a game behind the cards who go on a 9-game road trip after their cubs series is done. philly starts a 4 game set with your brewers and they have the hardest schedule of the WC contenders. they go on a 10-game trip after this cincy game...AND the astros have the easiest schedule remaining, playing most of their games at home. that's all i've been looking at...and the fact that the astros are the hottest team in baseball.

why do people keep blaming Yost? is it his fault Prince Fielder sucks? . lets look at the current situation with the Phillies manager, hes had a slumping Pat Burrell for the past month, who knows what the heck Burrells problem is, I know its not the coach though. Rollins has elevated his performance, this last month. Blame the dam players for not scoring any runs. Fielder wanted to act like a leader by beating up Parra, where is his leadership now? he needs to lead by example.
