One train left to leave the station en route to October

As one of the most exciting regular seasons in recent memory comes to a close, after 181 games all is not decided as there is still one ‘hanging chad’ yet to be tabulated. The Chicago White Sox have let their lead in the AL Central slip away the last week and a half of the season and now trail the Minnesota Twins by ½ game with one game to play. A make up game with the Tigers will take place on Monday and, if victorious, a one game playoff will be played to determine the division winner. It seems as if Ozzie’s always on the hotseat but don’t discount the 2005 champs so quickly as a fortuitous coin flip means if there is a one-game playoff it will be held at US Cellular Field. Can the ‘Ozzie and the South Siders’ run the table and get back to playoffs? If so, how far can they go?

It was going to take a memorable season to help Met Fans forget the collapse at the end of the 2007 season, instead they now have another reason to be miserable after fading down the stretch again and you can’t blame Willy for this one. For the second straight season the team with the second highest payroll in baseball will not participate in the post season. A 4-2 loss to the Marlins accompanied with the Brewers comeback 3-1 win vs. the Cubs sealed the fate of the Metropolitans now the largest television market in the world will not have a team playing fall baseball. Who, if anyone, is responsible for the Met Meltdown? Did they just run out of juice the final weeks of the season?

Meanwhile the other positions are set for what will be a great postseason stretch. Can anyone in the AL contest the Angles single season dominance? It’s obvious the NL is wide open but is this FINALLY the year for the Cubs, or can LA Joe ride the Dodger wave to their first series win since the Regan Administration?

THANK YOU!!! Finally a post season with no NY teams. Now I just hope baseball promotes the post season like they would if the Yanks or Mets were there. This is very healthy for baseball to have new teams making the post season. Now if only ESPN would quit writing about the "collapses" and write about the winners who beat them because they were better ball clubs.

The Mets as a whole have no HEART, they do not come up big in a big spot. Its time to blow it up, get rid of that sorry excuse for a center fielder...he could care less, he is there to collect a paycheck. Cut the ENTIRE BULLPEN, they have less heart then 4 year olds. Heilasuck and Schownduch should be tied up so we can all throw baseballs at them and they should be banned from baseball. How do they even make the big league. Also this Hispanic #### has got to stop...reyes blows in a big spot and has the baseball IQ of a 8 year old. Castillo should be lost a see floating him back to whatever thrid world country he is from. And even our boy Wright....how about getting a hit when it actually matters. I would shop them all, actually I wouldn't even feild a team next year its an embarrisment and a discrase to all Met Fans. They have no heart, dont give a damn and all they know how to do is choke in the big moment. I'm sooooo done with this team of losers its pathetic. Cut all of them, clean house and lets get some PLAYERS who care, not this team of rift raft.

I dont wanna hear about willie randolph...look at the records. Manuel must have been able to do something to get the team in better shape. randolph was at .500 when he was fired. randolpy almost got them into the playoffs, unfortunately almost isnt good enought

to phillie fans, i like how all of you talk about how the mets collapsed, that makes it sound like the phillies werent good enough to win it on their own and need a gift from the mets to win the divisions. oh, maybe thats why they didnt win a game in the playoffs last year...

And Please Wilpons, instead of sending us season ticket holders another apology letter, how about making some serious overhauls to show us loyal fans how loyal you are to winning. Fire this GM who yes has put a winning team together but not a championship team and in NY it's about championships. Especially when the team you share the city with has 26 of them. He has constructed a team that has no heart and it becomes evident every september and october since he's been here. I think now maybe we could stop poiinting the fingers at willie and get that clubhouse to start looking inward. Cliff Floyd was the only true leader we've had in the past few years and we let him go only to sign a guy who's been invisible since putting on a met jersey. Please Wilpons, if you are committed to winning a championship, please get rid of this GM and get one who doesn't play favorites and will get guys in here who will bust their butt to win games.

Peter Gammons of ESPN has just reported that next year the METS will name their stadium "HEIMLICH MANEUVER STADIUM" to avoid another choke.

Who on the Muts said they were the team to beat in spring training this year? How can such a supposed great franchise not sell out thier last home game of the season, trying to get into the playoffs, and having thier ballpark close for a new one? That just goes to show how delusional the Muts players are and how pathetic thier fans are!

with the season on the line and the bullpen not performing well why didn't Jerry Manuel throw the starting pitchers into the bullpen? you have to have everybody ready. You have to have your best players out there just to have a chance. Throw Pedro out there for one inning or one out, throw Maine out there for one inning or one out, heck throw Santana out there, I'm sure he could have gotten out of the inning without giving up a home run. Throw anybody out there besides the bullpen. You have to give it your all......it's the last game!
